I had the wonderful opportunity the other day to talk to my friend Bronwyn Hagerty, who is not only a great cellist, but also an orchestra librarian. The reason is, they do a lot behind the scenes that makes orchestral rehearsals and performances possible. There’s a lot you might not know, so I highly encourage you to hear what she has to say…maybe it’ll spark an interest for you in going down this path for a career, and if you’re in an ensemble with a librarian, it’ll definitely help you appreciate the hard work they put in!

A quick note: Bronwyn requested that I make a couple of corrections here on her behalf. The first is that when she mentions three different editions of the Firebird (16:41), she wanted to clarify that she meant 3 different versions, and that there is a difference. She also wanted to correct the Dvořák Symphony numbers (23:40), namely that what we now know as 7, 8, and 9 were not previously known as 4, 5, and 6, but rather 2, 4, and 5.
